Job Description Summary:
The Director of College Access and Success Initiatives will lead the launch and implementation of the Providing Access To Holistic Support Program (PATHS) at Austin Community College (ACC) as a key requirement of the partnered Greater Texas Foundation and Federal grant. This full-time position, housed within ACC, is responsible for leveraging ACC resources to ensure program success through operational oversight, strategic planning, and partnership development. Reporting to both ACC leadership and CIS leadership, the Managing Director will focus on achieving the program's intended outcomes and impact. The PATHS program is a collaboration between Communities In Schools (CIS) of Central Texas and ACC, aimed at supporting students with college access, transition, and completion services through the Integrated Student Supports (ISS) model.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

Program Launch & Implementation:
  • Oversee the operational setup of PATHS on ACC campuses, ensuring smooth program implementation and alignment with CIS's national ISS model.
  • Develop and execute strategies to meet program goals, including enrollment, retention, and completion outcomes for over 1,000 students annually.


Partnership Development:
  • Act as the primary liaison between CIS and ACC to enhance collaboration and optimize the program's reach and effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key ACC departments, faculty, and community partners to integrate PATHS into campus culture.


Operational Oversight:
  • Lead program development and design initiatives, ensuring alignment with student success best practices.
  • Coordinate the hiring, onboarding, and supervision of program staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.


Data-Driven Decision Making:
  • Monitor and analyze student success metrics, such as enrollment, retention, and graduation rates, to inform program improvements.
  • Collaborate with performance and data teams to develop reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.


Community Engagement:
  • Lead outreach efforts to engage students, families, and community organizations in program activities.
  • Represent PATHS at ACC events and community forums to promote the program and its impact.


Professional Development:
  • Stay informed of trends in college access and success and integrate learning into program design and staff training.
  • Support continuous improvement through professional development opportunities for program staff.


Knowledge
  • Proven expertise in postsecondary advising for first-generation and other underrepresented students, including academic advising, financial aid, and fostering a sense of belonging on campus.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in college enrollment, retention, and success within higher education.
  • Strong understanding of best practices for building and maintaining campus partnerships, including effective collaboration strategies across multiple teams.


Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize, design, implement, and evaluate programs to drive impact and improve postsecondary outcomes.
  • Skilled in strategic planning with K-12 schools, colleges, and communities to close achievement gaps and realize measurable improvements.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Skilled in managing, mentoring, and inspiring teams to achieve program objectives and drive performance.
  • Ability to foster an equitable and inclusive culture through inclusive leadership, policy implementation, and team engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement college access and success programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strategic goals/outcomes.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with experience in leading and collaborating across broad teams and organizations where coverage is across multiple locations in a large service area.
  • Excellent data analysis, reporting, and project management skills.
  • Commitment to college access for first-generation and underrepresented communities in education.


Technology Skills
  • Use a variety of spreadsheets, word processing, database, and presentation software.


Required Work Experience
  • Five years of related experience and three years of supervisory experience.
  • Completion of the ACC Supervisor Certificate Series Program will satisfy one year supervisory experience required for this position.


Preferred Work Experience
  • Seven years of leadership and program management experience in education-focused settings, including nonprofits, community-based organizations, or higher education institutions.


Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in education, public policy, or a related field.


Preferred Education
  • Master's degree public policy, educational leadership, business administration, management, or related degree.


Special Requirements
  • Reliable transportation for travel in and around the Austin area as required.


Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of objects up to 10 pounds.

Salary Range
$122,743 - $153,428
