Job Description
Great Basin College (GBC) seeks engaged, collaborative candidates for the CTE College Credit Coordinator. The CTE College Credit Coordinator is responsible for coordinating GBC CTE College Credit activities and programs throughout GBC's IO-county service area in Nevada. The goal of this position is to promote CTE College Credit awareness and high school student participation in CTE College Credit classes, while also supporting the growth of College CTE College Credit programs. This position includes significant coordination between students, faculty, administrators, employers, the communities, and other entities. The CTE College Credit program and this position are funded through the Perkins Act. This "A" contract (12-month) administrative faculty position is based at the Elko Campus, but the coordinator will be expected to deliver CTE College Credit services to the GBC service area, a region of about 86,000 square miles. This position reports to the Dean of Industrial Technology and Workforce Development.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred
- Advising, recruiting and/or teaching experience in a college setting preferred, especially as related to Career and Technical Education
Applicants must have the ability to
- communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty and staff in large group and individual settings
- organize and implement multiple projects at once
- work some early mornings and evenings
- travel, usually by car, with or without necessary accommodations across a geographically large service area
- perform research and compile written reports
Applicants are highly skilled in
- written and verbal communication skills
- oral presentation skills
- basic computer technologies (e.g., Word, Excel, Google Docs)
Applicants also are expected to
- present a well-groomed, professional appearance at all external GBC events
- Must have a current valid Nevada driver's license
- be self-motivated to work independently and collaboratively
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
Responsibilities
This position will coordinate daily functions of the CTE College Credit program. Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Communication and Student/Community Events:
- Exercise a high level of customer service, forge and maintain positive relationships, and be a part of a dynamic team that supports student success.
- Represent Great Basin College as a professional, well-groomed, knowledgeable, kind and helpful ambassador of higher education, and especially CTE College Credit.
- Attend and/or coordinate events that help raise awareness of CTE College Credit, such as college and career fairs, community and high school recruitment presentations and events.
- Cultivate college, high school, industry, and community partnerships.
- Host high school teacher and administrator professional development workshops.
- Market the CTE College Credit program with regard to Career and Technical Education.
- Coordinate and provide information to high school students and their families regarding CTE College Credit.
- Attend and/or coordinate events that help raise awareness of CTE College Credit, such as college and career fairs, community and high school recruitment presentations and events.
- Provide transition activities and assistance for high school CTE students to enter college.
- Attend state CTE College Credit and CTE meetings.
- Work with NSHE CTE College Credit Coordinators on state-wide collaboration.
- Facilitate CTE College Credit articulation agreements between high school and college faculty.
- Help CTE departments coordinate annual advisory board meetings; help coordinate Perkins Oversight Committee meeting(s).
Reporting and Data Collection
- Compile data and prepare reports of program activities to identify areas of improvement, recommend solutions, aid management in making policy decisions, analyze the program's success, and comply with State of Nevada reporting requirements.
- Assist with the annual review cycle of articulation agreements and secondary education CTE programs.
- Assist with CTE College Credit program application cycle and recording/posting articulated college credit.
- Assist with fiscal and administrative matters including budget tracking, documentation, and reports.
- As assigned, complete or help complete Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) document every two years.
- Other duties as assigned
Travel
The position may require driving to other GBC campuses, with or without reasonable accommodation as per the Americans with Disabilities Act, with possible overnight stays to coordinate students and programs throughout the service area. There must be a commitment to the GBC mission to serve rural Nevada. The successful candidate will participate in several state-wide or national meetings each year that require overnight travel.
Compensation Grade
Administrative Faculty - B
The budgeted salary range for this position is $43,035 - $53,790. Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.
