The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Instructor, Design & Manufacturing Technologies, De Anza College.

The Foothill - De Anza Community College District does not have a remote work policy. All employees are expected to be available to work in person and on-site per the requirement of the department. **DMT faculty are also expected to share the duties of teaching during daytime, evenings, weekends, online, and off-campus**

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

Under the direction of the Dean of Business, Computer Science and Applied Technologies, provide instruction in courses focused on Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing (AM) and Industrial Automation. Subjects in AM include, but are not limited to, concepts, theories, and working knowledge of AM. A thorough understanding of all seven ISO additive manufacturing standards including concepts in subtractive, formative, and joining techniques for engineering-grade thermoplastics, photopolymers, and metals is required. Additionally, experience in design for additive manufacturing (DFAM) and familiarity with 3D printing workflows and software systems is preferred. Topics in industrial automation include Industrial Automation operations, safety principles, maintenance, electric circuits, PLC programming, set up and operation, robotic arm programming and operation and automated systems. Additionally, knowledge of fundamental parametric CAD software, basic conventional and CNC machining operations, mechanical inspection, and materials and processes is desirable. Instruction should incorporate an understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes, mechanical systems, and tolerance standards, including GD&T, in both lectures and laboratory activities.

Maintain contacts with business, industry, and professional organizations for the purpose of keeping instructional programs current with advances in occupational or academic fields. Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills.

Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of credit and non-credit curricula, such as, Credit for Prior Learning, Competency-Based Education, short-term course offerings, Dual Enrollment and Incarcerated Student offerings. Maintain scheduled office hours, attend department and division meetings, pursue professional growth activities, service on district and/or college committees, and perform other duties consistent with the role of an instructor, such as student recruitment and retention, mentorship, class schedule preparation, budget development, program review, and program development and evaluation. Instructors also have the opportunity to participate in a broad range of on and off campus extra-curricular activities.
In addition, instructors are expected to maintain a commitment and sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious background and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff, and uphold a commitment to integrating equity practices in the College's Instructional Programs.

DMT faculty are also expected to share the duties of teaching during daytime, evenings, weekends, online, and off-campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
  2. Bachelor's degree in related field AND two years of professional experience OR an Associate's degree AND six years of professional experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Occupational experience in Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing and Industrial Automation.
  2. Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering/technology or related field with an emphasis in AM.
  3. Six (6) or more years of related manufacturing experience.
  4. Successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  5. Experience in Additive manufacturing, such as build and machine optimization, post-processing, familiarity with 3D printing workflows and software systems such as nTopology, Magics, NetFabb, PreForm, GrabCAD Print/Insight, 3D Sprint and Eiger.
  6. Experience with Industrial Automation, such as safety principles, electrical circuits, PLC programming, robotic arm programming and operation, and automated systems.
  7. Knowledge of solid parametric modelling systems using Creo, NX, or SolidWorks preferred.
  8. Working knowledge of precision mechanical inspection and conventional and CNC machining operations.

  4. Ability to assume a leadership role in developing innovative Design and Manufacturing Technologies curricula.
  5. Ability to use instructional methods that reflect cultural sensitivity and to effectively teach a diverse student population.
  6. Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing processes and operations scheduling related to advanced manufacturing.
  7. Knowledge of quality systems, manufacturing inspection systems, and lean manufacturing techniques.
  8. Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to industrial safety, material handling and disposal, electrical safety, and first response to fire and medical emergencies.
  9. Ability and willingness to continuously improve instructional quality and enhance the learning process (e.g. by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques and delivery methods such as collaborative learning, service learning, learning communities, instructional technology and online education.)
  10. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  11. Strong computer skills and commitment to the use of technology in instruction.

HIRING RANGE: $72,704.00 - $119,405.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.
